Virtual-CZ can sound just like the real thing (without the hiss), or you can beef it up with more layers. Whilst I'm tempted to try out the sysx editor features of Virtual-CZ, there's actually no point. They're now both in the loft, and since getting Virtual CZ a couple of years ago, they're probably gonna stay in the loft! Learned about oscillators, waveforms, envelopes, LFOs, etc.

And programming it on the tiny LCD turned out to be a PITA! Plus it lacked a mod wheel and velocity sensitive keyboard. Now will probably get my CZ-1000 out of the closet this weekend and try out the CZ editor in Virtual CZ, as well as some of the virtual CZ-1 features that I could never afford back in the day! CZ-1000 was only 8 oscillators, but actually 4 voices if you doubled the oscillators. Note that Syntorial learns you Subtractive Synthesis and cannot actually be. Was beginning to think it would never go on sale! Everydaw anyways has a great subtractive and FM synth (to begin with).

It was my first synth! I had looked at the CZ-101, but didn't like the mini keys. You'll have to layer this sounds way in the background of your mix, though, otherwise the temptation to push the 'Next' button in the player will be almost irresistible for your audience.
